Maria Forteza earned her degree in Philosophy from the University of Barcelona in 1999 and in Sociology from the Autonomous University of Barcelona in 2004. She has been a member of ISOR since 2004, working on several projects on religious diversity models of secularism. She was an FPU Scholarship holder, which was funded by the Ministry of Education and Science, in the Department of Sociology at the UAB from 2006 to 2010. She has been a visiting researcher at the Pontifical Gregorian University (Rome, Italy), University of Turin (Italy) and the École des hautes études en sciences sociales (Paris, France). She is a guest lecturer at AUDIR ant at ISCREB in the Sociology of Religion course. Currently, she is the coordinator of the Religious Map of Catalonia, which is commissioned by the Department for Religious Affairs of the Catalan government. Moreover, she is working on her doctoral thesis: “Pluralism in the Catholic Church. A comparison on lay movements”.
