Avi Astor


Professor Agregat al Departament de Sociologia de la Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona i membre de ISOR. Va rebre el seu doctorat en Sociologia de la Universitat de Michigan el 2011. Abans d’adjuntar-se amb ISOR, era un becari post-doctoral amb GRITIM-UPF i després amb el Departament de Sociologia i Antropologia de la Universitat de Tel Aviv. Ha escrit sobre diversos temes relacionats amb la religió, la cultura, la identitat i les relacions intergrupals. Ha publicat un llibre titulat, Rebuilding Islam in Contemporary Spain: The Politics of Mosque Establishment, 1976-2013 (Sussex Academic Press, 2017). El seu recerca també ha aparegut en diverses revistes de prestigi com Theory and Society, The International Migration Review, The Journal of Ethnic and Migration Studies, The Journal for the Scientific Study of Religion, Qualitative Sociology i The International Journal for Urban and Regional Research.
